Description:

Willow was originally found alone in the snow, curled up in a doorway trying to keep warm, a kind lady gave her some food and brought her to our vets clinic . She came to the UK in 2021 but now, due to no fault of her own, needs to find her new family and home. Her current owner says:

“Willow is a very happy girl and makes us smile everyday. Her favourite thing to do is fetch. She would run up and down the garden all day if she could. She brings the ball back without any coaxing. She also loves a chew toy, fluffy or rubber. She has good manners around mealtimes and will sit prior to the bowl going down if asked. She will allow you to touch her when she is eating and she shares the space with our other dog. She loves a treat and will take gently if asked.

She loves everyone, strangers are greeted with a wag even if they are just walking past. She can get very excited and needs to be reminded to sit and be calm. This sometimes works depending on the persons interactions with her.
She seldom barks but if there is a pigeon or squirrel in the garden she will give it a good woof. Willow is happy with 45mins exercise, or would walk all day. She settles well after exercise. She is good in the car boot and will jump in. She is walked on a long line and one of her throw toys is needed to focus her attention. She will otherwise be distracted and very excited if she spots a dog or birds, etc. She is on constant alert on a walk and you need to be aware of what she is doing. She is strong on the lead but can also walk calmly. She is good walking near traffic, although sometimes a large lorry or bus can make her a little nervous.

She is housetrained and sleeps downstairs in a room with our other dog, on a bed. She is not allowed upstairs.

She has not been tested with children. She would not be able to live with cats or small furries. She can be left for a few hours. I think she would be happy to be the only dog or be with others. She is ok with most dogs, but some she isn’t keen on. She can be friendly with a quick sniff or a play bow, but sometimes she gets frustrated and starts to bark. There doesn’t seem to be a particular type of dog she will do this to, or a pattern before she does it.

She needs regular brushing and she has a very thick coat. She can enjoy this for a short period. She can sometimes be quite wary of having her rear end/tail touched, or if you move behind too close. She will just jump out of the way. She will tolerate having her nails cut, but someone needs to hold her while you do this.

She loves water and will happily paddle in it. We have stayed in holiday cottages and she is quite happy and will settle at night time with no fuss.”

Thank you for your interest in Willow. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
