Description:

Whispa has been a much loved member of a family since she was 4 months old. She turned One in November 2022. She has had her first season and since been spayed, with no issues at all.

Whispa’s Character: She is an amazing girl, full of life. Loves people and bonded really well with 2 other Romanian rescues. She loves cuddles and will lay on her back enjoying tummy rubs. She isn’t one for cuddling for long on the couch, but likes laying close by your feet. She is such a quick learner and loves training and fun. She will chase a ball or toy and bring it back. She will do anything for a food reward or a toy. Whispa has only ever known positive training methods. She attended classes, helping to demonstrate to others in the class. She is a sweet girl, very inquisitive and has come so far in her learning. She walks on a harness quite well, on going with that. She can be a little anxious in new places, but does quickly settle with reassurance. She knows all the basic cues and lots more. She has got a fantastic “drop” things on cue, and will recall back from chasing birds in the garden. She hasn’t shown any prey drive, just fun chasing them. She has met sheep, they were scary to start with, but now she ignores them, especially good with a flock in the field next to the house. She will look, but not react to them being close. Although was keen to chase when they ran , but easily brought away. She is fine with cars, etc and even horses walking past. She seems fine with children encountered on a walk, and has spent time just sitting outside a local primary school. She hasn’t had children in the home, but due to her bounciness older children would be preferable. She has seen the village cat out on walks, and again inquisitive and actually would not walk past the cat when it was sitting on the pavement, she had to cross over the road. She loves people and can get quite excited when people approach, wanting to say hello. She is learning that she really doesn’t need to say hello to everyone and how to stay calm. Work in progress but doing well. She is a typical Romanian rough player with the 2 other dog’s, which is fine for them as they too are Romanian rescue dogs. I do need to step in and calm things down sometimes. Whispa can be quite anxious in wide open spaces, really out of her comfort zone, although she would be ok if it was taken slowly. She loved the openness of the beach. She is not off lead yet, as she may get a little anxious, but will come back on the long line if worried about anything, seeking a little reassurance that everything is ok. She recalls amazingly from our large garden, even if running about with her two friends. She doesn’t react to other dogs and loved going to class. She is however a little anxious if she hears another dog bark, and will seek reassurance. This too is improving and she is starting to understand that it’s ok.

What we think Whispa needs: She needs a family that understands the working dog personality. Whispa needs to use her brain as much as she does the physical exercise. She would excel at mantrailing, or anything scent related, also would love agility if she didn’t find it too overstimulating and the person had that understanding. She had been attending hoopers, and she loves it. She could also make a great obedience dog, as she just loves to work with you. She would be OK with a dog with the same energy levels, she can be a bit much for my two older dog’s with less energy. She would also be OK as a solo dog too.

Little quirks: Whispa can be like a toddler at times, into everything. She loves cushions and will destuff them if given a chance. She loves shredding paper. She has a lot of adolescent behaviours and does need to be watched, as she will find something to get hold of that she shouldn’t have. When she is quiet, we have to go check that she isn’t doing something she shouldn’t be. This will improve as she is just a big pup, so a lot of management is still in place. This may also be due to her not having enough exercise, both physical and mentally. She is high energy and needs to go into her crate (which she loves) with a yummy chew and have a rest otherwise she will just keep going until she gets a little bit silly. This is normally when she will pester the other two dogs to play, when she is just with her human , she lays down and rests. She sleeps in her crate at night and is fantastic. She runs into it when we say “bed time” and that’s her until the morning. Once she has learned something she never forgets, she can open doors, so doors to the outside are all locked. She has jumped our high gate once, so needs a really secure garden with high fences. She will have a dig outside, but also has learned “leave it” and is easily distracted from the digging. Whispa is a tall girl, very lean and athletic looking. A stunning looking girl that turns heads, with the nature that goes with it. She needs that special understanding home that can meet her needs.

Thank you for your interest in Whispa. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
