Description:

Tessa’s story is one of quiet hope and trust against all odds. She was found all alone by the side of a road, lost and vulnerable, until fate led our vet, Denisa, to her. Denisa was traveling through the countryside, 200 km from our kennels, stopping to feed the stray dogs along the way. Most were too scared to come close—except for Tessa. She watched from a distance, drawn to the kindness she had likely never known. Slowly, cautiously, she approached, her hunger overpowering her fear.

Denisa had to leave, but she made a promise—a promise to return. Hours later, on her way back, there was Tessa, still waiting in the same spot. The moment she saw Denisa, she came running, letting out soft cries of joy as if she had been holding on to the hope that someone would come back for her. And Denisa did. She brought Tessa to the safety of Happy’s, where she could rest, eat, and finally feel safe.

Tessa is incredibly sweet and gentle, wonderful with other dogs, and so deserving of a home filled with patience and love. She needs a calm, understanding family who will give her the time to settle at her own pace and to continue her training. A rural or semi-rural home with direct access to a secure, grassy garden would be perfect for her to explore and play.

Tessa has already shown incredible courage in trusting again. Now, all she needs is someone to give her that final piece of the puzzle—a forever home where she will never be alone again. Will you be the one to change her life?

Thank you for your interest in Tessa. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
