Description:
We were contacted late at night, a large dog was lying near a car wash paralysed in the snow. Apparently she had been there for over two days. Her sad eyes were starring out from the snow, lying there alone she must have felt so scared, so helpless – no one cared, no one had come to her aid. After a sleepless night, we eventually found out who had taken the pictures and put out a call for help. When we managed to locate the area, sadly Elsa was no longer there – she must have dragged herself away to hide. Thanks to several people with huge hearts, a message went out locally on a Facebook group pleading for people to look out for her. We got a call early one morning – after days of searching Elsa had been found. Due to her size the lady was unable to lift her, so a call to the city hall and unbelievably the mayor and two helpers came out to load Elsa into the car. Happy’s exists for the dogs no-one wants, the old, injured and abused. We really didn’t know what to expect when she arrived, but if she was to have any chance of survival we knew she had to come to us. Elsa was met by our lovely vet and our wonderful volunteers. Elsa was checked over and given some much needed medication and vitamins then taken to her kennel to recover from her ordeal. She immediately lay down on her bed, a bowl of food and fresh water by her side, she fell asleep listening to relaxing dog music – safe at last.
Elsa is a fabulous dog. She loves cuddles, she comes when you call her name and lights up and she gets on well with other dogs. She would ideally love another friendly dog to play with at home
Thank you for your interest in Elsa if you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
