Description:
Poor Barney was found all alone at only a day old with his siblings. They were found dumped in a bag close to a church. They were taken to our vets clinic whereby the team set about trying to save their lives. Their eyes tightly closed, their tiny bodies cold and they were also refusing to eat. With loving care thankfully Barney and one sibling (Gracie) started to accept food. Sadly the other siblings weren’t so lucky. Our vet, Denisa, lovingly cared for them around the clock.
Travelling together the pair arrived in the UK in October 2024. Barney has come on leaps and bounds in this time and now that his sister has been adopted, he is also ready to settle within a loving and caring home where he can become a life-long companion.
Barney is loving, affectionate and loyal and given time, care and attention will form a strong bond. His new family will need to commit to spending time with him and supporting him with his ongoing development.
Barney is full of energy but once exercised enjoys curling up in a cool space and relaxing. Barney is not overly demanding and is comfortable with being left for short periods. He is all but house trained with the occasional “accident” but making good progress..
He loves being outside and would benefit from a nice size secure garden with grass to run and play on. If Barney needs space, he will retreat to his basket or safe space under a table, and when he wants affection, he’ll nuzzle in for hugs and cuddles. Barney is still nervous and unsure when first he meets anyone so we will be looking for a calm experienced home , with no young children, who will fall in love and give this beautiful boy the home he so deserves.
Thank you for your interest in Barney. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
