Description:
After 3 years in what we all thought was Bleue’s forever home, sadly through no fault of his own he has been returned to the rescue.
Bleue used to live with an older female companion who he bonded with very closely, gaining his confidence from her. Bleue is now in Foster and is being assessed in his new surroundings, living at the moment as an only dog. We do know from his previous owners he is a nervous boy, so once he’s ready we will be looking for a rural/semi-rural home with a nice secure garden with lawn for him to lie out on. He would also enjoy the company of another friendly dog to give him confidence. He hasn’t lived with cats and will chase.
Bleue is initially nervous when he meets new people and will bark at strangers, but soon warms up with a calm introduction and then looks for attention. Once he knows you Bleue loves affection, adores spending time in his persons company and has started to chasing a ball
Bleue is house trained, he walks nicely on his lead and is not disruptive in the house and sleeps soundly through the night
After a week in a foster home his foster mummy says:
“Remains nervous when out, but has taken treats off my neighbours when given the time to approach slowly. I have asked dog walkers to introduce themselves and their dogs to Bleue at a distance, (had a nose to nose with a labrador).
Bleue likes to make sure he knows where I am, so will follow me around and sit somewhere so he can see me.
He goes out in the garden around 9pm before settling for the night, and sleeps on his blanket next to my bed – not a sound all night. He occasionally goes in his crate for a little while during the day, but normally sits next to me.
He is wary of people, but it’s mainly with other dogs – I feel he needs to be homed with another dog for company and for confidence. He needs at least two good walks a day.
He does not bark at all when out of the house, but objects to sea gulls or pigeons and especially cats being in his garden. If he hears something he is not familiar with he will get nervous and if someone is outside he doesn’t know, he will bark.
He has worked out how to catch a ball now and loves picking up his soft toys and nibbling on them for comfort.
It depends on where I take him for a walk, but seems more confident with open spaces at the moment so he can see if ‘the coast is clear’ of people and dogs.
Blueue is the most gentle dog I have ever met, who just needs more love than you can possibly give: he needs a lot of reassurance and affirmation”
Thank you for your interest in Bleue. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
