Description:
Asher is a large, friendly, and affectionate boy who is eagerly seeking a loving home. He craves love and attention and is a sweet dog who takes treats gently from your hand. Asher is undeniably handsome, as you can see, and just needs a chance to find a patient and understanding family who will give him the time he needs to adjust to home life. Asher has started lead walking but would need further training, and any family looking to adopt him should bear this in mind. Currently, he resides in the kennels at our shelter, Happy’s, with his brother Archie. While he can be rehomed separately from Archie, he would benefit from having another friendly dog in the house to boost his confidence. Asher would thrive in a rural or semi-rural home with a secure, lawned garden, providing him with a safe space as he adjusts to his new environment.
Here is Asher’s story. As our vet, Denisa, left her apartment, she was greeted by a frightened and lonely puppy named Amos. When Denisa called to him, he ran straight into her arms. She gently picked him up and took him to her clinic, where he was examined and placed with little Annie, who had been found the day before in nearly the same spot.
A few days later, as Denisa was leaving home, she noticed an adult female dog watching her. Although she tried to call the dog to her, it wouldn’t come, so she left some food and went to work. Later, we learned that a Facebook message had been posted, asking for help with a puppy that had been seen first with his mum and then all alone. The person who posted the message was on her way to work and couldn’t assist. The photo she took was of little Amos and the same adult female dog Denisa had seen watching her a few days earlier.
Mum, now known as Jessie, and her three other puppies were then found and brought to Happy’s. Asher is one of Jessie’s puppies! Jessie showed incredible bravery by seeking help for her puppies.
Asher is looking for a peaceful, understanding home where he can relax and settle at his own pace. He would thrive in a rural or semi-rural environment with direct access to a lawned garden. All he needs is a loving family to give him a chance.
Thank you for your interest in Asher. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
