Description:

Archie is a big-hearted, large-sized dog who’s yearning for a loving home. This sweet boy is desperate for affection and attention, and his soft eyes will melt your heart. Archie is incredibly sweet and will gently take treats from your hand. He has started having some training with walking on the lead, but this would need to be continued in his new home. He’s a strikingly handsome dog who only needs a chance to prove how wonderful he is. Right now, Archie lives in the kennels at our shelter, Happy’s, with his brother Asher. While he can be rehomed separately from Asher, he would thrive with another friendly dog in the house to help him build his confidence. Archie dreams of a rural or semi-rural home where he can have a secure, lawned garden to explore. He just needs a patient and understanding family who will give him the time and love he deserves to adjust to home life. Archie’s heart is brimming with love to give, and he’s waiting for the perfect family to call his own. Will you be the one to give him that chance?

Here is Archie’s story. As our vet, Denisa, left her apartment, she was greeted by a frightened and lonely puppy named Amos. When Denisa called to him, he ran straight into her arms. She gently picked him up and took him to her clinic, where he was examined and placed with little Annie, who had been found the day before in nearly the same spot.

A few days later, as Denisa was leaving home, she noticed an adult female dog watching her. Although she tried to call the dog to her, it wouldn’t come, so she left some food and went to work. Later, we learned that a Facebook message had been posted, asking for help with a puppy that had been seen first with his mum and then all alone. The person who posted the message was on her way to work and couldn’t assist. The photo she took was of little Amos and the same adult female dog Denisa had seen watching her a few days earlier.

Mum, now known as Jessie, and her three other puppies have since been found and brought to Happy’s. Archie is one of Jessie’s puppies. Jessie showed incredible bravery by seeking help for her puppies.

Thank you for your interest in Archie. If you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
