There is just something incredibly special about Treacle when you meet him. He is a loving, large-sized dog with a huge heart, eagerly searching for a forever home. He is desperate for attention and is incredibly affectionate and friendly. This gentle boy longs for love, and his soulful eyes are sure to capture yours. Treacle’s sweet nature shines through in everything he does; he gently takes treats right from your hand without snatching. His striking good looks are only surpassed by the incredible dog he is on the inside, just waiting for the chance to show it.

Currently residing in the kennels at our shelter, Happy’s Treacle shares his space with his sister, Toffee. While he can be adopted on his own, he would truly thrive in a home with another friendly dog who can help him build confidence. Treacle dreams of living in a rural or semi-rural environment with a secure, grassy garden to explore. Treacle has begun learning the basics of walking on a lead, and his new family will need to build on this foundation to continue his training. This gorgeous boy is searching for a patient and compassionate family who will give him the time and care he needs to adapt to home life. Here is his story. Treacle’s journey began with heartbreak. He was discovered alongside his mother, Sadie, and six siblings, all in a desperate situation. Sadie, emaciated and abandoned, had been tied up and left to fend for herself and her litter. Tragically, four of Treacle’s siblings didn’t survive the ordeal.

Treacle, along with his brave mother and two surviving siblings, was rescued and given immediate care by our vet. They were then brought to Happy’s, where their road to recovery and a brighter future began. Treacle’s resilience is a testament to his strength and spirit, and he’s now waiting for a loving home where he can truly thrive.

As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us. They haven’t had the best start in life, and therefore, it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual, and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden, or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult-only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs, and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
