Background Story
Spencer was found abandoned on the streets, sadly we suspect he probably had owners at some point before they discarded him like rubbish to fend for himself. Thankfully he was rescued before he was injured or worse on the busy roads. Spencer travelled to the U.K. from our shelter in Romania into his foster home surrounded by a happy pack of other dogs. His best friend Jimmy recently found a wonderful home of his own and now it’s Spencer’s turn. .
The wonderful
Spencer is a lovely dog. He is calm and quiet and great with other dogs in the home. He is friendly and likes strokes and gentle fuss. He is clean in the house and good with other dogs when he’s off the lead. He can be left for a few hours at a time. He would be better homed with another dog because he loves to play. He could possibly live with dog-savvy cats and he’s good with chickens. He travels well in the car. Spencer is a big character, extremely engaging and interactive and he will reward his forever family with endless love.
The quirks
Spencer pulls hard on the lead but that’s nothing that couldn’t be sorted with training. As with many rescue dogs he needs to be fed separately from other dogs and he also needs gentle introduction to strangers. He has shown protective tendencies in the past. Spencer hates being out in the rain! He could possibly be homed with older children (15+) as he’s an energetic, enthusiastic boy.
Thank you for your interest in Spencer if you would like to apply to adopt one of our dogs, please read the ‘How do I Adopt’ pages, where you can find more information about the process and the costs involved.
As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
